Here is a list of links to [free] online magazines. Feel free to send me a comment if I’ve omitted your favourite e-zine; and I’ll add it to this list.
Magazines are listed alphabetically, as opposed to content or favourites. All links open in a new page…
1000words magazine: Published quarterly, it is a UK-based online magazine featuring contemporary photography; contains exhibitions, book reviews, photo essays, interviews and multimedia. Their blog can also have some interesting reviews on artists.
burn magazine: Launched as an online magazine/journal on December 21, 2008 and curated by Magnum photographer David Alan Harvey. Fab journal which focuses on emerging photographers. Seriously expect to spend a couple of hours here on your first read. Then re-visit frequently as stories tend to be posted every week.
File magazine: In their own words: “We publish images that treat subjects in unexpected ways. Alternate takes, unconventional observations, odd angles — the photographs in the collection reinterpret traditional genres”. The magazine has since stopped publishing, but they have retained ‘The Collection‘ and ‘The Projects‘ sections.
Posi+tive Magazine: Published in Italy so some of the articles are obviously Italian. Covers art, photography, culture, design, fashion, architecture and reportage. The blog sometimes has interesting articles. Else you can go directly to the download page; and download the magazine in PDF format; or view it online using Issu.
Street Reverb: Dedicated to promoting, publishing and discussing contemporary street photography.
Visura Magazine: One of my favourite online reads. Their strapline says that they are ‘Dedicated to personal photography projects’; and there is some really interesting stuff here often. Enjoy the backstory to the images as provided by the artist accompanied by their images. Not restricted to stills, although predominantly stills; there is also some interesting fusion stuff there.Read More »
